Mei Fuh - Memories from China
is a delight. It is a Chinese version of a Milly Molly Mandy book, following little Mei Fuh (Edith's Chinese name) through her daily activities in a small Chinese town. Each chapter is short and simple and the whole book is only 90 pages long, making it a good, easy chapter book for novice readers, as well as a pleasant read-aloud.

Each episode is fascinating because it offers great insights into Chinese life in a small village in the early 1900's where life is so different from life in the USA. This is a sweet (but not saccharin), well-written tale, sure to delight young readers. Parental discretion is required regarding readiness for the subjects listed in Noteworthy Issues, but each is dealt with from a young child's perspective, not in detail, and with a happy conclusion to each episode. Mei Fuh - Memories from China should be appropriate for all but the youngest or most sensitive children.
